Renewable Energy       Conservation & Environment       Pathway to Net-Zero

Conservation is at the heart of our land management approach. We actively enhance habitats through tree planting and targeted environmental projects, working closely with national organisations such as Natural England, Northumberland National Park, Historic England, and the Environment Agency, as well as local partners including Northumberland Wildlife Trust and Northumberland Rivers Trust.

Coquet Island

Located just a mile off the Northumberland coast and owned by Northumberland Estates, Coquet Island is a vital haven for around 45,000 breeding seabirds. Due to its ecological significance, the island is protected under both international and UK law, and is dedicated as a wildlife sanctuary, remaining closed to the public.

South of Scotland Golden Eagle Project

For the past six years, the South of Scotland Golden Eagle Project has been dedicated to restoring a sustainable population of Golden Eagles in southern Scotland, the southernmost edge of their current UK range.

Grey Partridge Conservation

In 2004, Northumberland Estates launched a conservation program to support wild grey partridge populations at Alnwick.

Looking after Red Squirrels on the Estate
