Rooftop
Solar

Solar PV is being installed on all economically viable roofs and in car parks on Estate property, as part of our efforts to accelerate decarbonisation across the Estate using one of the most cost-effective methods of renewable energy generation.

In the initial phase of the project, 20 individual solar arrays were installed across 9 industrial locations. A total of 1 MW of roof-mounted solar was deployed, providing clean electricity to tenants and Estate-owned operations. This resulted in an annual reduction of 132 tonnes of carbon dioxide (TCO2).

Roof-mounted solar PV is included in all new developments as standard, supported by power purchase agreements for tenanted properties.

Our rooftop solar projects

Proven solar performance across our portfolio.

Sawmill – 183.12 kW

Our Sawmill installation has delivered outstanding results, with solar energy directly meeting 54% of the building’s total electricity needs throughout its lifetime.

Electricity exported to the grid is equivalent to 68% of the energy imported to operate the site.

Wynyard Park

A multi-array solar setup powers several units across the Wynyard estate:

  • Wynyard Park House: 85 kW and 91.2 kW
  • Evolution Unit 2: 27.78 kW
  • Evolution Unit 9: 33.8 kW

These systems continue to deliver strong, reliable performance:

  • Wynyard Park House: Solar provides 54% of electricity demand, generating 360 MWh to date.
  • Evolution Unit 2: Solar meets 77% of the unit’s electricity usage.
  • Evolution Unit 9: Solar covers 78% of total electricity demand.

B&M at Willowburn Retail Park – 90.73 kW

This installation consistently supplies nearly half of B&M’s power, with solar covering 38% of total electricity consumption.

Vroom MOT Depot & Vroom Sales Depot

  • Vroom MOT: 82.82 kW
  • Vroom Sales: 50 kW

Both systems continue to efficiently offset energy costs:

  • Vroom Sales: Solar meets 40% of building demand.
  • Vroom MOT: Solar provides 46% of the site’s electricity needs.

Snakes and Ladders at Syon Park – 62.5 kW

A standout performer, this system supplies an impressive 82% of the site’s electricity usage, showcasing the impact of well-designed renewable energy solutions.
