The Alnwick Castle Christmas Fair, held on 21 and 22 November, was a resounding success, raising over £10,000 for Maggie’s Newcastle, the cancer support charity located at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle. Over 600 guests attended the two-day event, uniting independent brands with the local community for an unforgettable experience filled with shopping, entertainment, and fundraising.
This year’s fair featured an outstanding selection of stalls, curated by Anna Voyce of Osski, showcasing exclusively independent brands that are typically only available online or at other fairs and events. Guests were treated to a unique shopping experience, supporting small businesses while also enjoying a festive atmosphere. The courtyard was beautifully decorated with Christmas trees, and the Alnwick Allstars Choir provided a heartwarming welcome on the opening evening, setting the tone for the entire event.
"We are absolutely thrilled with the success of this year’s fair," said Connie Holden, Alnwick Castle Events Manager.
"The generosity of our guests and the support of volunteers helped us raise an incredible £10,000 for Maggie’s. This funding will make a significant impact on the charity’s ability to continue providing vital services to those affected by cancer. We couldn’t have asked for a better turnout, and we are so grateful to everyone who came out to support the fair."
The inaugural fair exceeded expectations, with 600 attendees coming from near and far to enjoy the festive spirit and give back to a worthwhile cause. The sense of community and generosity was palpable, underscoring the true spirit of the event.
“We are deeply grateful for the support we’ve received from Northumberland Estates throughout the year,” said Jessica Maguire, Fundraising Manager at Maggie’s Newcastle.
“The £10,000 raised from this event will go a long way in helping us continue our work supporting people affected by cancer. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this event possible.”
