A new clubhouse at Alnwick Castle Golf Club, one of several improvements made possible by a £1.5 million investment from Northumberland Estates, was officially opened by His Grace the Duke of Northumberland.

Recognising that traditional housing for older people needed to be transformed, Northumberland Estates has developed a new concept in senior living that offers independence, freedom and flexibility within a community setting, and close access to health and social care facilities. The result is the Backworth Ageing Well Village, a ground-breaking community development for people living in later life.

Northumberland Estates today welcomed a decision by government ministers to approve a new Northumberland rail line. Transport Secretary Grant Shapps  has granted an order authorising the purchase of land and the closure of level crossings following a public inquiry into the scheme.

Plans for new homes on the outskirts of Newcastle have been revealed through an online public consultation. The proposed development by a consortium comprising Northumberland Estates, Persimmon Homes, Taylor Wimpey and the Quadrini family would see up to 1,600 two, three, four and five bedroomed properties built at Upper Callerton near Westerhope.
